The Setting

Immerse yourself in the extraordinary opening stage of Karibu Gravels, where your journey begins and ends at the breathtaking Nyandungu Eco-Park – Kigali's crown jewel of environmental restoration. This 121-hectare urban oasis stands as a testament to Rwanda's commitment to environmental conservation, offering a stunning backdrop for the race's grand opening.

 

The Challenge

Your adventure unfolds over 95.7 challenging kilometers, with a total elevation gain of 2,149 meters that will test both your strength and strategy. The stage immediately announces its intentions with a formidable Category 2 climb stretching 11.5 kilometers at an average grade of 3.7%, gaining 449 meters in elevation. This early challenge will set the tone for a day of tactical racing and personal triumph.

Your day begins in the cool morning air, with race preparations against the backdrop of awakening wildlife. After conquering the course, return to Nyandungu's welcoming embrace for:

  • A celebratory finish in nature's arena

  • Recovery in the park's tranquil setting

  • A well-earned lunch featuring local cuisine

  • Awards ceremony celebrating the day's achievements
